Exploring Quantum Computing's Impact on Additive Manufacturing: Insights from EinDruck³ Event

Last week we had the pleasure to talk about the applications and risks of quantum computers in additive manufacturing at the EinDruck³ Event on invitation of Bayern Innovativ. The event took place in the stadium of the football team Greuter Fürth.

To begin with, our business development manager, Matthias Kaiser held a short presentation about quantum computing in general and about its risks and opportunities in additive manufacturing. Afterwards, the audience was split into two smaller groups to discuss what the most promising applications of quantum computing in additive manufacturing may be.

Both groups came to the same conclusion, the most promising application is the combination of quantum chemical simulation, FEM simulations and optimization to allow for an holistic simulation and optimization of the interactions between material, machine and process. This would allow the easier development of new materials, printing parameters and process and the engineering of specific end part properties.
